We understand that making plans for your later years, or for an elderly parent, is a sensitive and emotional process. There is the uncertainty of not knowing whether you will need some form of funded care in the future and, if so, to what extent. And, of course, you'll need to know the financial implications.
As a member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), we at Emmersons Solicitors provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.
To become a member of SFE a lawyer must have spent a substantial amount of their time working for older and vulnerable clients. They must also pass the SFE examination and have to fulfill the SFE criteria for membership. Solicitors For The Elderly members have experience of, and specialize in a wide range of legal issues particularly affecting older people. Their specialist knowledge enables them to empathise with and to take account of the difficulties and disabilities, including mental incapacity, which can accompany the aging process. As such, they are more aware of the social and health problems, which can arise as people age.
As members of the Solicitors for the Elderly we will provide independent advice, which is in the older or vulnerable client's best interests, respecting dignity and will apply a holistic approach to problem solving. All advice is of course confidential and home visits can be arranged.
We have substantial experience in the following areas:
