Jacqueline Emmerson - Managing Director

Jacqueline specialises in all aspects of family law including divorce and dissolution, separation, issues relating to contact between children and their parents and other relatives. Jacqueline also deals with financial settlements which can include houses, pensions and business assets. She acts for many business owners.

In addition Jacqueline deals with; Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, Court of Protection and Probate matters. Her team was short listed for the national Law Society Excellence Awards in 2015 and 2017 for their expertise in private client work.

Jacqueline is a finalist in the Northern Law Awards. This is in respect of the Law Practice Management Award in recognition of her work in building up Excellence in Client Service, the Culture of Emmersons Solicitors and growing the business during the recession.

With over 27 years experience as a solicitor, Jacqueline has covered most issues that will arise in her areas of law. She is regularly called upon by the local press and radio stations to provide commentary. She gives lectures to North East charities so that their volunteers can understand in more depth the help that their clients need. She is the Honorary Solicitor for SSAFA in the Newcastle area.

Jacqueline trained at Ward Hadaway, she was one of the first and youngest members of the Law Society's specialist Family Law Panel. She is a member of Resolution and a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer.

In her spare time she likes to cycle, swim and spend time with her husband and three children. She also helps to lead children's interactive services at her local church.

Michael Robinson, Criminal Law, Prison Law and Motoring and Haulage Law. Law Team of The Year - Private Client

Michael Robinson - Director

Michael is a specialist criminal lawyer with Higher Rights of Audience, meaning that he can represent you not only in the Magistrates Court but also the Crown Court. He has over 25 years of experience in the area of Criminal Law. He is renowned for being an excellent advocate.

Michael has built up a loyal following of clients in respect of his successes in Motoring and Haulage Law. He has helped many of Emmersons Solicitors clients to keep their driving licence and thus has helped them to retain their jobs and often their businesses. Michael is the Motoring Expert of the North.

Michael has also received recommendations from lawyers, accountants and other professionals in respect of White Collar Crime, Fraud and Proceeds of Crime Act matters. He has a very analytical approach when dealing with the financial complexities of such cases.

Michael was educated at Queens University Belfast and Northumbria University. He trained at Eversheds Solicitors. He has designed and presented lectures for Northumbria Police Force, he undertook national research on behalf of the Law Society and he has also lectured to the staff at the Legal Aid Agency.

Other than his family, Michael's main passion is rugby, rugby and rugby.

Tracey Hammond

Tracey Hammond - Solicitor (Head of Family Team)

Passionate and committed to her work, Tracey undertakes Family and Private Client Law. She is a member of Solicitors For The Elderly, having passed the Solicitors For The Elderly exams meaning that organisation is willing to signpost work to her. Tracey’s experience in these areas covers literally hundreds of cases in assisting her clients to the best possible outcomes.
Tracey prides herself on explaining every step of the legal process in easy to understand language so that her clients can make informed and best choices for their individual circumstances. Tracey is well liked by our staff and clients, she is a strong leader training our Family and Private Client Teams in both Newcastle and Sunderland as well as offering support to all team members.

Tracey receives a large amount of her work by way of recommendation. She particularly enjoys dealing with older clients. She has recently become a Dementia Friend thus giving her a greater understanding of what our clients and their families are dealing with.

Tracey studied at Exeter University and The College of Law, Guilford. She has travelled extensively in Europe following her family members who were professional musicians. Did you know that Tracey even played with the Halle Orchestra. Tracey's life has always revolved around animals mainly dogs and also ponies when she was younger.

Rona Samuel, Family Lawyer

Rona Samuel- Collaborative Family Lawyer

Rona is a very accomplished Family Lawer with over twenty years of experience in Family and Divorce Law. For many years Rona worked in Hexham and built up a substantial following of clients in the Tyne Valley. She is a trained Family Collaborative Lawyer, her main aim is to help her clients avoid costly and stressful court proceedings. However, should it be necessary to issue or respond to court proceeding, you will find that Rona is a tough negotiator. Rona specialises in all areas of Family Law from straightforward cases to Complex High Net Worth Financial Matters. Her cases often involve business assets, pensions, trusts and property portfolios. She also deals with all matters relating to Arrangements for Children, also known as Custody and Access.

Rona is one of only a handful of Matrimonial Specialists able to deal with the complexity of Farming Divorce and Agricultural Divorce. Having dealt with the same over an extended period. She understands that dealing with the family farm is a very complicated business which requires the use of both an expert lawyer and expertise in accountancy, taxation and trust work.

In her spare time, Rona likes to spend time with her family and visit sites of historical interest.

Calvin Walker - Trainee Solicitor

Calvin grew up in Sunderland and attended St. Aidan's School. He graduated with First Class Honours from Northumbria University. Calvin's clients find him to be very approachable and supportive; he has obtained some excellent results for clients in relation to Child Custody cases and in respect of injunctions.

Stephen Donohue, Conveyancing Solicitor, Residential and Commercial

Stephen Donohue - Conveyancing Solicitor (Head of Conveyancing Department)

Emmersons Solicitors Conveyancing department has more than doubled its activity and turnover. It is known for offering a first class service with clients frequently rating the quality of service 10/10 and 11/10. The vast majority of Stephen's instructions come from either recommended or repeat business which is a testimony to his speed, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.

Some would say that “Conveyancing is Conveyancing is Conveyancing”…Therefore it would seem a good idea to call five solicitors firms and choose the cheapest one. The real cost of conveyancing will only show itself if it goes wrong or something is overlooked. This is when all conveyancing firms are NOT the same.

Stephen studied at Durham University and worked in the North East region before joining Emmersons Solicitors.

Lee Gilder - Legal Executive

Lee is a Legal Executive, which means that he has a Degree in Law. He left university in 2013 and has worked as a lawyer since then. He has now brought his enthusiasm and skill set to Emmersons Solicitors where he has settled into our team very quickly. In his spare time Lee likes to run, he takes part in The Great North Run and has taken part in full marathons.

Kathryn Musgrove Conveyancing and Family Law

Kathryn Musgrove - Trainee Solicitor

Kathryn is from South Sheilds and gained a degree in Law from Northumbria University. Kathryn joined Emmersons in late 2016, she is based at our Newcastle office and assists both the Conveyancing and Family Law Teams. She has proved to be a very fast learner, she is well organised and efficient. Kathryn has successfully passed her probationary period as a Paralegal and has now been promoted to Trainee Solicitor.

In her spare time Kathryn likes going to the gym and is a keen climber.

Felicity Nelson

Felicity Nelson - Lawyer

Felicity is from Newcastle upon Tyne and gained a First Class Degree in Law from Northumbria University. Felicity began working for Emmersons in 2012 whilst still at University.

Felicity has been involved in dance and drama for a number of years both at school and University.

Joanne Brown - Legal Assistant

Joanne Brown - Legal Assistant

Joanne has over 20 years experience as a Legal Assistant. She runs all of the administration for our conveyancing department. Joanne prides herself on giving detailed and fast quotes to our clients. You will find that if you instruct us to undertake your conveyancing matter, then Joanne will have a full information pack sent out to you either the same day or the next day at the latest.

Joanne also assists Helen Miller head of our Family Law Team.

John Griffith - Solicitor (Head of Prison Law)

John is the Prison Law Supervisor for Emmersons Solicitors. He is also a Criminal Law Solicitor. He has represented clients at hundreds of parole and adjudication hearings, with positive outcomes in the vast majority of cases. Has won Judicial Review cases which have resulted in changes in the law relating to prisoners.

John prides himself upon victories in cases other solicitors said were ‘unwinnable’ in the magistrates’ court.

John was successful in having his team short-listed for the Northern Law Awards under the category Crime and Regulatory.

John was educated at Royal Grammar School Newcastle and attended Leeds University and Northumbria University.

Like all of the staff in our Prison Law department John is very involved in Martial Arts.

Clark joined Emmersons Solicitors having graduated in Law and built up an enviable record of successful achievement in Criminal Law and Fraud. He prides himself on being supportive, accurate and speedy in the delivery of advice and service. Clark represents Emmersons clients at police stations.

In his spare time Clark boxes and plays football.

Heather Nelson

Heather Nelson - Client Relationship Manager Newcastle

As the first point of contact at our Newcastle office, Heather is our Client Relations Manager. Heather has a 25 year background in the banking sector. She undertakes work to support both the Conveyancing and Family/Private Client Departments. Heather is very organised and has set up numerous systems in respect of Deeds and Wills storage and archiving of all Newcastle files.

Heather is married with two adult daughters. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking/baking, walking and spending time with her family.
